DevOps collaboration integration
What it is
DevOps collaboration integration connects planning, source control, pipelines, notifications, and team communication so that work state travels with delivery events instead of being manually copied between tools.
Why it exists
Disconnected systems create stale status, missed incidents, and unreliable release communication. Integration links the decision record to the implementation and its operational evidence.
Key ideas
- Connect Azure Boards or GitHub Projects/Issues to the repository so pull requests and commits update or reference work consistently.
- Use webhooks for event-driven integration; verify signatures, restrict endpoints, and design retries/idempotency because delivery can be retried or arrive out of order.
- Notify Teams or another communication channel for meaningful state changes: failed production deployment, required approval, incident, or release completion. Avoid noisy notification spam.
- Use explicit ownership and escalation for failed integrations; a silent broken webhook corrupts traceability.
